The employees of Cockshutt Moulded Aircraft supported the war effort in ways that extended beyond their jobs. Regularly, Cockshutt employees surpassed the fundraising goals set for them in Victory Loan campaigns. These campaigns were organized by the Federal government to help fund the war, and consisted of the sale of bonds which were purchased by employees in exchange for the government repurchasing the bond (with interest) after the war had concluded.
With heavily organized volunteers, the employees of Cockshutt Moulded Aircraft were notable for their passionate support and regularly exceeded the goals set for the various Victory Loan campaigns organized throughout the war. In October of 1943, the employees purchased $137,000 in Victory Loan bonds. This is equivalent to over $2,300,000 in today’s money, when accounted for inflation. This impressive display showcases the various ways that the war effort was supported by Cockshutt employees.
