Impact of Mosquito Production

The industrial work that Cockshutt Moulded Aircraft did contributed greatly to the war effort. Inspired by the resilience of the British civilians, it was reported to the employees of Cockshutt Moulded Aircraft that the Mosquito components they were making were serving important roles in the work overseas. By early 1945, it was clear that Cockshutt had proven itself as able to shift from farm equipment production to wartime aircraft production.

The creation of the Mosquito fuselages was quite unique in that it was made entirely of wood. This usage of laminated wood strips made it stand out from most other planes of the era, which had transitioned to sturdier materials and away from the wooden frames and fabric fuselages which dominated early aircraft.
