The Cockshut Plant News, a series of monthly news publications issued by The Cockshutt Plow Company Limited, and its subsidiary the Cockshutt Moulded Aircraft Ltd, during the years of the Second World War. These newsletters are an extraordinary chronicle of the people that worked in the factories of Cockshutt, their dedication to the war effort, their correspondence with employees who left the company to join the armed forces, and many things in their daily lives that we have largely forgotten: Ration Books, Victory Bonds, the number of “girls” who moved from the East Coast to become wartime workers, and many more. We have completed our work on The Cockshutt Plant News – A Wartime Chronicle - Volume 2 – 1943, and are publishing the 12 issues in a single bound volume at the full size at which they were originally issued. We have added a comprehensive alphabetical index of 2,900 names mentioned in the 12 issues, - including 331 men and women identified as part of the Brantford Cockshutt “family” in the armed services; a special “Honour Roll” listing those men who died, were wounded, who went missing, or became a prisoner of war; and a “Topical Index” of interesting articles. |
